How American Red Cross is helping El Salvador:

How We Can Help:

The American Red Cross helps many countries in Central America including El Salvador. El Salvador is a small country, that contains about 6 million people. It also is highly-exposed to natural hazards such as volcanoes, hurricanes, and earthquakes. The American Red Cross helps El Salvador prepare for and respond to disasters and health emergencies. They also provide people with tools and knowledge to recover more quickly from the deadly disasters. Alongside other organizations, they establish early warning systems to alert residents of incoming disasters. They try to develop community action plans such as evacuation routes and emergency shelters. They also expand their support for international disaster preparedness. Our support also helps the Red Cross discover projects that reduces and decreases disaster risks and damage, such as planting trees, building flood embankments, improving drainage systems or building better and more durable houses.
